One of our Editorial Board member's offered these thoughts/questions for tonight's council meeting:
What will Raging Bull rage against in his mayor's report tonight?
- Will it be another undisguised political attack on his council?
- Will he rage against staff and council for snow removal that he applauded at the last council meeting after hearing the full snow plan from staff?
- Will he rage against council and staff for the Mufford overpass, which his political buddies, the Muffords and VALTAC, don't want?
- The Langley Times article on the Events Centre?
- Will he rage against his only friend, Kim Richter, for her broadcast emails slagging the Township's snow removal?
Some of our Editorial Board members were in Langley City last night for coffee and some other politically-savvy city residents we know were talking about Mayor Green's letter regarding the LEC. These city residents feel that Township politics has become very negative since Green took over.
They viewed the mayor's letter as a direct and inappropriate assault on Councillor Jordan Bateman (whom most know only socially) and said that Bateman's response letter was viewed as very civil and non-confrontational. They commented that he did not take unfair snipes at the mayor, even though his letter was very much a snipe.
Now before we get 10 angry messages from Horny Toad let me point out that these later comments were not made by our Editorial Board and came from Langley City residents with no allegiances to Green nor Bateman.

Sorry, just one comment. How come I didn't get one of Richters e-mails as EVERYONE knows I'm in her pocket?
Oh,and incidently I had lunch today with some old timers from TOL, who, while not knowing a lot about Green, like what he is trying to do.
And, because we are TOL residents we had lunch in , and support TOL businesses.
Horny Toad
Maybe you should ask Kim why you are on her s*it list then? Our group normally frequents TOL businesses and support them big time as well. But are we not allowed to have friends in the City of Langley?
The Mayor would like to work with council by having an indepth discussion regarding the finishing of the LEC.
From Mayor Report
"we would finish off the centre on time(Remember we are committed to the 2010 Summer Games......)the issue of how we fund the shortfall had to have more in depth discussion."
From Council Meeting
Richter puts through a motion of "Rescinding and not refereed to Council (as per her blog) the funding.
Why is this a problem, because it misleads people.
These two people are wondering what the big deal is? These people wonder why the public is outraged?
Politicians unfortunately say things and do quite the other. As most lawyers do, they prefer the written word and not the "intention of the individual".
Open Government is about what is said, written and done, not what is said and not done.
My understanding is that all Councillors and Former Mayor (excluding Green and Dornan) knew that if the Feds didn't come through with their portion, they would use the Reserve.
I want to Thank all Councillors for not seconding Richter's motion. Wiser heads prevailed in this case.
Cllr Richter, the public does not trust you. What you say and what you do are two different things. You continually put through motions for the sake of doing it. A savy politician puts through motions in order that they get passed.
They do not use this as a strategy to tell electorate that I put through the motion but no one supported it. In essence, you waste people's time. It's like crying wolf, eventually everyone stops listening.
Mayor Green, I appreciate the fact that you ask hard question. However, by falling into the Richter "modus operandi", the next three years will be difficult.
A Watchful Eye
