Reliable Rumour

************ UPDATE February 9, 2009 ***************

The community volunteers report that over the weekend a couple of them received emails from a certain councillor stating that the comments were from a reader (doubtful) and that they were "fair" comments. Not sure what is so "fair" about slandering a large group of people because you have an ax to grind against an individual that happens to be a member of that group, but was clearly not acting in that capacity when he is out and about. The "editor" there did remove the offending comment.

One thing is certain and that is that several board members and people that did not write in are influential people in our community and have good memory skills. It goes far beyond any individual when you are a public official and you allow your propaganda site to rub dirt in the faces of Langley's volunteers.

She has already flip flopped on fire fighters and lashed out at sports parents. I guess this volunteer group was next on her hit list. She is really self destructing.

Maybe she will kick a puppy next?

I've lived here all my life and a basic guiding light in Langley has been volunteerism. I recall during the All Candidates meetings that most of the mayor and council hopefuls spoke about this. I can't remember if Kim Richter did or not, but basic respect for the community starts with its volunteers and so it is very clear to me that Councillor Richter has no respect for this community or its volunteers.

An observation from pre-November election to post-November election. In the last term of office and slightly before there were two blogs in town. One was very uni-focused on their 'choosen' elected representative. SHE could do no wrong and was heralded as the next coming. She tinkered with running for mayor, was userped on that endeavour and finished a disappointing third in the election to Bateman and Fox. (Note -she did get more votes than the mayor) The other blog reflects the political happenings in town all be it with the bias of the editor as is the case with all blogs, including this one.
The change pre and post election has been the advent of this blog which by it's very nature is holding Richter and Green to task for their actions (or lack thereof), inconsistentcies of their speeches (at the Council table) and their flip/flop on their election promises.
With the new blog (this one) taking the accountability piece to the max, the LFP Editor (Bob Richter) is notching himself in to a hole and really doing more damage to Kim's next foray in the mayor's race and possibly any future politcal ventures in the Township.
I note you have an editorial board, I think it would be prudent of the LFP to have a board as well to review all posts, the language used, the tone of the rehetoic and further to pay closer attention to the posters comments, as they do definitely cross the line. I understand from watching the blog, that Richter has had to apologize for the comments made to more than one person when the blog has rapped or pillaged.
In conclusion, you do offer a balance, you do provide the 'other' view on issues and you do hold the LFP accountable which is what free speech is all about. The last thing I have to say is your blog has integrity and credibility which is seriosuly lacking on the other blog.
Keep up the good work and continue to expose the difficiencies and issues as they arise because we, as Township residents, deserve to know ALL the 'goods'.
Note; from an interested observer!

The three words that come to mind are - ugly, unnecessary, slime. We won't forget in three years!
