While I appreciate your kind words and support, I do truly believe that it should be off-limits for people to talk about the children of public officials. We can debate politics and policy without resorting to that kind of gutter activity.
It's unfortunate that my council colleague has chosen to allow certain comments on her website, but if she chooses to engage in such personal attacks there's not much I can do. She has to deal with her own conscience at the end of the day.
I would ask those of you who have respect for me and/or my public office as a councillor to refrain from mentioning things about my kids. I also ask you extend the same favour to Councillor Richter.
Whether you feel she deserves such respect or not, her children are not public figures and should be off-limits.

Jordan,
Nice to see you are reading here, as we've not seen you since the inaugural. We appreciate your comments and have no concluded a straw poll of our Editorial Board.
We have agreed that children of public officials should not be drawn into these discussions. Of course spouses that help write blogs and such are fair game. In the interest of doing the right thing, The Langley Record is willing to remove comments about the children of you and Cllr. Richter if she also removes the offensive posts on her blog. Let's see if Cllr. Richter can take the high road?

Take the high road, this individual has no ethical nor moral boundaries. I am absolutley shocked that Kwantlan would allow a person on their staff to act]ually host a blog that deemeans children. Young people are what Kwantlan is built on to think this individual deals with them each and every day is astonishing. This type of behavior taints Kwantlan Ply U. as an institution and also their ability to select instructors who respect the future generations and can work within an acceptable moral and ethical framework.
Mr. President (of Kwantlan) this staff member is a disgrace to you, the Board on which she sits, and the staff she repesents on that Board.
HT and WN can't read one lives in Gloen Valley thother in south Langley on acerage and don't have to read in their million dollar properties. No wonder they snub we hard working urban folks trying to eke out a living....they are out of touch and live far from reality!
Lyle Pona would have two words for these two....you know what they are!
I do not comment alot but I am definately reading the Record!
Why would Jordan be the first one to BRAG about taking his kids to the Arbor Day and then get pee'd off when they're brought into the conversation. I'll bet if HT said "oh, your kids are just so cute", he would have reacted in an entirely different way and welcomed the comment with his chest all stuck out.....
I don't see what the big deal is about. After all, his kids aren't Malia and Sasha and his wife isn't Michelle and he isn't Obama.
